Synopsis: The world is on fire, why not start a band? First Timers is a diy punk festival where beginner musicians play for the first time in front of an audience. Over the course of one night, we follow the newest punks brave enough to take the stage.
About the Filmmaker: Benji is a director & artist who tells stories through film, illustration and comics.
Their work explores alienation, survival, and the surrealism of everyday life. Both narrative and abstract, their approach to storytelling is shaped by science fiction, fantasy, and dark humour.
They work traditionally with pencil, ink, paint, and oil pastel — they hand draw their illustrations, then scan, and digitally colour them. As a filmmaker, they have a diy ethic, from making props to animating title design.
