Synopsis: A widow, struggling to readjust to a life of grief, unexpectedly meets a woman whose presence is transformative.
About the Filmmaker: Myah is a Barbadian-British photographer, dramaturg and director based in London. She is the former Literary Associate at the Royal Court and in a freelance capacity for the theatre has, directed work for the Queer Upstairs project, as well multiple pieces for the highly acclaimed Living Newspaper project in 2021. Alongside this, she is facilitating a writer development programme in Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad with the British Council. Other theatre work includes: curating the Young Vic’s Twenty Thrive exhibition; dramaturgy on Yomi Sode’s Manorism for the Southbank Centre, co-directing The Hope Project for Clean Break Theatre; dramaturgy and assistant directing on Curious by Jasmine Lee Jones, and Shedding A Skin by Amanda Wilkin, both at SOHO Theatre. Myah’s photographic work has won the Portrait of Britain Prize in both 2019 and 2021. She most recently became a recipient of the inaugural Leica & We-Present’s Photography Grant and the Arts Council’s Developing Your Creative Practice Grant. Her portraits have been featured in a host of publications, including VOGUE, The Guardian, The Sunday Times Magazine, The Independent, Elle Magazine, Aesthetica Magazine, It’s Nice That and British Journal of Photography. She has also worked in collaboration with the likes of The Photographer’s Gallery. Tate, Somerset House, Donmar Warehouse, gal-dem, ICA, South London Gallery and Whitechapel Gallery. She is part of the London Creative Network (LCN) programme with Four Corners, a recent graduate of the South London Gallery Film School, Black Light Blue Studios and an alumna of The Birmingham REP Foundry programme.
