Synopsis: Maya, a young footballer, faces a tough choice: pursue her dream of going pro or care for her ailing grandmother Maggie, whose memory of her own football career is fading. As training pulls Maya away, she’s forced to make a decision that could cost her everything in this heartfelt story of love and ambition.
About the Filmmaker: Klara Kaliger is a multilingual actor/writer/director with versatile experience across both stage and screen. She graduated from MA Text and Performance at RADA and Birkbeck in 2020, after years of acting training and running an improv theatre company, which she co-founded in 2016. Her work as a writer and director includes short plays ”Hopes and Beans”, “The Real Deal” and “Tammy and Erica” at Theatre 503, short films “Boxes” and “Back of the Net”, audio play “Stay Home. Stay Safe.”, short play “Manifest” (RADA) and a music video for Azileli. She’s currently working on her next short film. She has also worked in film & TV development, both in-house at Heyday Films and as a freelance reader for 42MP and Working Title. When she’s not wearing her theatre/film hat, she sometimes makes music and always thinks about her next travelling destination.
