Synopsis: Combining history and fantasy, “Awaiting the Lightning Bolt” follows Renato, an eccentric Renaissance inventor obsessed with the impossible task of capturing a lightning bolt in a jar. As he pushes the boundaries of science and confronts the scepticism of his peers, Renato’s journey becomes a thrilling adventure, where the power of love and the mysteries of nature collide.
About the Filmmaker: Marco Russo is a writer, director and animator. He started his career as a comic book writer, working with publishers such as Les Éditions Dupuis and Panini Comics, in Italy, France and Belgium. He studied filmaking at Stockholms Filmskola and directed some live-action short films. In 2024 he attended the Aardman Academy and directed a short film in stop-motion animation.
