Synopsis: What happens when the Disability Allowance you were awarded indefinitely is stopped? A period of form filling and assessment interviews that seems to go on…well…indefinitely. A scathing and painful look at the benefit system for the disabled in the UK and it’s horrific consequences.
About the Filmmaker: Clare-Louise is a deaf filmmaker who lost her hearing as a teenager. Clare trained at RADA on the MA Theatre Lab course and co-founded Hot Coals Productions alongside Jo Sargeant, specialising in work accessible to both Deaf and hearing audiences in a shared experience. Clare’s debut short, ‘My Darling Christopher’, tells the true story of a boy who lost his hearing at the outbreak of WW2, and combines spoken English, BSL, Visual Vernacular and creative subtitles. Her shorts ‘We Care’ and ‘Indefinitely’ are from a collection of 7 films written by Deaf and disabled writers called Talking Bodies.
