Nosferatu (1922) is one of the silent era’s masterpieces. Its eerie, Gothic feel – and chilling performance from Max Shrek as the vampire – set the template for horror films that followed. Darkly humorous and tender too – this is a story of yearning and the search for fulfilment.
Ahead of Robert Eggers’ eagerly anticipated reimagining of the film releasing in January 2025, Norwich Film Festival is proud to give audiences a chance to experience F.W. Murnau’s iconic 1922 silent film original with breath-taking live music accompaniment from Minima.
Minima have specialised in silent film accompaniment since 2006. The instrumentation of drums, bass, guitar, cello, double bass, synthesiser and dulcimer immerse the audience in a nightmare world.
“Minima’s spine-tingling music clung to each twist of the movie… spellbinding accompaniment.” (Guardian)
“Superbly sinister live score by the soundtrack group Minima.” (Financial Times)
