Director’s Statement
‘The Pod is a short animated film created by Bronto House Animation. Bronto House is a creative team comprised of seven students from San Jose State University’s Animation and Illustration program, (Jaydeep Hasrajani, Alvyn Villanueva, Michael Harding, Nicholas Carpenter, Carlos Nunez, and Leonard Hung). During the summer of 2011, these seven students sought out to create a short film in by the end of the year. It was important to them that they were involved in every aspect of the filmmaking process to make a film that each member could take ownership and experience away from the project.
The Pod was created in roughly 5 month (from July 2011 to December 2011). The journey was extremely challenging due to the fact that the film was created alongside an arduous semester of school. The filmmakers had to develop many techniques to handle the intense deadlines and a medium that was entirely new to them (Flash animation). In the end, Bronto House Animation succeeded and wrapped up production on The Pod in December 2011. They are now busy submitting the film in festivals while also working on a brand new animation project that is set to be released in May 2012.’
