Official Selection 2012
In her big empty house in the desolate heart of the English countryside, a lonely, middle-aged, God-fearing spinster makes her way to bed, where she prays before falling asleep. In the middle of the night she’s woken by the haunting mating calls of foxes which, to her shock and surprise, makes her incredibly aroused. Under the watchful eye of God she lays aside her Christian sense of what’s right and makes a life-changing choice. With the help of an old fur coat and some dressmaking sheers, she swiftly, frenziedly and skillfully transforms herself into a fox before entering the garden…
About the film
We all have urges and thoughts we’re ashamed of, which we try to suppress and remove in the interests of morality. The Fox is about stripping away what we think is the right thing to do and letting our instincts take over. Overcoming the indoctrination of religion and conventions of society and listening to the beast within. A beast which, when answered, can really give us what we want.
