About the director
Teddy is Rebecca Papworth’s debut as a film director and has been made as a result of winning award from the John Brabourne Award and match funded by the UK Film Council.
”Filmed in North Bridge Car Boot Sale Halifax West Yorkshire, over one weekend, the film interweaves fictional events into a factual living environment for dramatic effect and authentic detail. Blurring the boundary between actuality and narrative by using a mixture of real stalls and stallholders as well as genuine buyers. We sold actual props and filmed around people visiting the Fair to keep a naturalism and energy to the process and kept the constraints of continuity to a minimum.”
Having started her career in theatre, Rebecca now has 10+ years experience in television and radio. As a writer, Rebecca has won the BBC Northern Exposure short screenplay award, and been nominated for an Immison Award for debut play Miscreant Mothers. She has also been Series Director on popular documentary series Fame Set & Match BBC2, and been BBC Executive Producer on narrative comedy shows such as Gavin and Stacey 3, Rab C Nesbitt, Hometime, Life Of Riley, and Old Guys.
