The Norwich Film Festival is back this November from the 4th to 17th and we will be screening a record breaking 155 films. This year’s line up is the best yet with a host of industry talks, panels, Features and the most incredible short films from the Festival circuit and we really hope you can join us for what will be an inspiring, exciting and fun line up of events.
Kicking off this year’s festival is a special in conversation with acclaimed actor David Morrissey (The Walking Dead, State of Play, Nowhere Boy, The Deal) for a talk about his incredible work in Film/TV. This event will be hosted by one of the most respected film critics in the world Peter Bradshaw (The Guardian).
We are also excited to be welcoming a host of famous faces including BAFTA Winning actress Jessica Hynes whose Feature Film The Fight screens on Friday 8th November at Stage Two, Norwich Theatre Royal. Also, that evening we will be screening an East Anglian supernatural drama Widows Walk directed by actress Alexandra Boyd and will also feature a Q&A with the director and Norfolk born actress Miranda Raison.
We are also thrilled to be screening family favourite Features including The Runaways which stars Mark Addy and BAFTA Winner Molly Windsor and one of the most beautiful animated features around Tito and The Birds. There will also be an opportunity to watch the inspirational Documentary Home which will include a Q&A with world renowned adventurer Sarah Outen.
We will also be teaming up with Cinema City Education for a Gala Screening of Snowpiercer which will include a Q&A with Mark Kermode and Anwen, Lady Hurt.
There will also be an opportunity to watch Alfred Hitchcock’s Silent Masterpiece The Lodger which will include a live Piano Accompaniment by resident BFI Player Stephen Horne at The Assembly House.
The Festival will also be showcasing a selection of the finest Short Films on the festival circuit which is the most diverse line up of screenings around. The events include Women in Film, LGBT+, Global Issues, Experimental Shorts, East Anglian Shorts, Documentary Shorts, Animated Shorts and also our staple mixed collection of Short Films exploring different themes.
We are also pleased to include an in conversation with acclaimed actor Michael Smiley (Luther, Spaced, Free Fire and Kill List) plus a screening of his short film.
There will also be a wonderful selection of Industry sessions available for those interested in learning more about film. Guests include Joe Cornish (Attack the Block, Ant Man, The Kid Who Would Be King), Alistair Petrie (Rogue One, Sex Education) and Ellie Kendrick (Game of Thrones, The Levelling), Julian Foddy (VFX), Matthew Wilkinson (Producer), Georgette Turner (Location Manager), Matt Waites (Sound). There will also be targeted industry sessions around navigating the festival circuit, securing funds for your film and discovering and supporting talent: agents panel.
