Director’s Statement
‘The script for Gold really appealed to me because it felt different to the majority of short films that I have seen and read. It wasn’t retro-fitted around a joke or twist and it wasn’t set in a London council estate where Granddad was shooting up in the corner while the baby was crying and Mum had just shot the dog and thrown it out the window. I love the clashing worlds of these contrasting characters, united only by the fact that they’re strangers in beautiful countryside – land that they’re all in some way doing battle with.’
