Late last year we opened our third poster competition asking for creative people to submit their designs for the 2015 Norwich Film Festival. We were pleased to get more entries than ever before, and we were really happy with the quality of work submitted, which culminated in the shortlisted Top Ten.
We then opened up the voting to the public for three weeks, and we had hundreds of votes in the end. We’d like to thank every single person who voted, as you have made our job a lot easier in picking the top three. But now, the votes are in and they have been counted. We are very happy to announce the top three posters.
Olivia Church, Georgia Howell, and Katie Kamminga
A huge congratulations goes out to Olivia, Georgia and Katie, and to all the other designers. We enjoyed Olivia’s use of bright colours, Georgia’s simple and minimalist approach to Norwich and film; and Katie’s attempt to throw back to and old school poster style. These three designs will now be printed as flyers / postcards etc and distributed throughout the city in the lead up to the festival this year.
Of those three, a committee of judges from the festival have chosen their favourite, which will be drawn up as full size posters for use throughout Norwich. After consideration and debate, the final winner has been confirmed as GEORGIA HOWELL.
Her design was elegant and simple, yet maintained a relevant theme true to the festival. It’s visual reference to Norwich market is eye catching and immediately obvious, while still offering a subtle hint to the film festival. We look forward to seeing this poster up throughout the city of Norwich!
Congratulations once again to Georgia. We will be holding another poster design competition for our 2016 festival soon, so please keep an eye open for that in June.
