BRIAN COX (Actor)
Is an Emmy Award-winning & Golden Globe nominated Scottish actor, with more than 207 credits to his name (according to IMDB). Brian first came to attention in the early 1970s with performances in numerous television films but his first big break was as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in Michael Mann’s Manhunter (1986). Further film credits have included; The Ring (2002), X-Men 2 (2003), Troy (2004) The Bourne Supremacy (2004), Red (2010) & Red 2 (2013).
Brian had this to say about the Norwich Film Festival’s “Increasingly Film Festivals acquire greater and greater status due to the ever diminishing distribution opportunities for films of rare and original visions. Film Festivals such as this maintain film as an art form”.
Multi award winner for both stage and screen, Jackman is best known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men series. He won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. He will next be seen in the role of P.T Barnum in The Greatest Showman.
JOHN COLLEE (Screen Writer)
Is a Scottish novelist, journalist and screenwriter whose film scripts include Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), Happy Feet (2006), Creation (2009), Walking with Dinosaurs (2013), Wolf Totem (2015), Tanna (2015) and Hotel Mumbai (2017). John as executively produced The Water Diviner (2014) The Guest (2015) & Hotel Mumbai (2017).
John had these very kind words to say about the Norwich Film Festival “I’ve been an enthusiastic supporter of the Norwich Film Festival for five years now. Great to see it going from strength to strength, and showcasing such high quality short films in its ongoing development programme”.
Julian is a BAFTA Nominated Film and TV Director hailing from the glorious county of Norfolk. Julian's credits include Great Expectations( 1999), Kinky Boots (2006), Becoming Jane (2007), Appropriate Adult (2011), The Girl (2012), A Royal Night Out (2015) and The Crown (2016 2 episodes directed). Julian has not only been nominated for a BAFTA but also a Primetime Emmy, BIFA and won a Broadcasting Press Guild Award. Julian has also served as BAFTA judge and was previously a judge here at the Norwich Film Festival for 2 years.
OLIVIA COLMAN (Actress)
Olivia is a Norfolk born Three time BAFTA-winning & Golden Globe Winning actress, well known for her supporting roles in shows such as The Night Manager(2016) , Broadchurch (2013 - 2017), Twenty Twelve (2012), Peep Show (2003 - 2015), Rev (2010 - 2014). Her film credits include Tyrannosaur (2011), The Iron Lady (2011) Hyde Park On Hudson (2012) , Locke (2013) & The Lobster (2015) and more recently Murder on the Orient Express. Olivia had some lovely things to say about supporting the Norwich Film Festival........
“Every artistic expression starts with what you know, with who you are, with where you started. For me, a large part of that is Norwich. So I am delighted to be supporting the Norwich Film Festival, its drive to expand the artistic horizons of the county I grew up in, and the many talented artists from all over the world for whom Norwich may now also prove to be something of a starting point”.
BAFTA & Golden Globe Nominated actor Steven Fry is known throughout the world for his work in Film & TV. With TV credits including Blackadder, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Q.I and Kingdom to Film credits including Wilde (1997), Gosford Park (2001), V for Vendetta (2005) and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011). Steven has conquered all media mediums and we are thrilled to welcome him as a patron of the Norwich Film Festival. Here is what he had to say.......
"A thriving film festival in my beloved home town gives me such pleasure. It was in Norwich that I learned to love film. I spent more time than I probably should have done at the Gaumont on All Saints Green, the ABC on the Prince of Wales Road, the Odeon Anglia Square, the dear old Noverre at the Assembly House and latterly the peerless Cinema City. Very proud now to be a patron of a festival that encourages people from Norfolk, Norwich and beyond to be enchanted, beguiled and entranced by all kinds of film that might not otherwise reach them".
TIM McINNERNY (Actor)
Tim is an actor probably best known for his role as Percy in Blackadder and Blackadder II, and as Captain Darling in Blackadder Goes FortAside from many television appearances, Tim has acted on stage in numerous productions, and has a lot of great film credits including 101 Dalmatians (1996), Notting Hill (1999), Johnny English Reborn (2011), Spooks: The Greater Good (2015) Race (2016), Eddie the Eagle (2016) .
